On the official menu pages of tonkatsu specialty chain Matsunoya, the nutrition information for the “Fried Horse Mackerel (2 pcs) Set Meal” and the “Fried Oyster (5 pcs) Set Meal”, both listed from 3 p.m. on September 16, 2026, has been swapped between the two items. As of the morning of September 17, 2026, the Fried Horse Mackerel (2 pcs) Set Meal page carries the figures that had appeared for the Fried Oyster (5 pcs) Set Meal through the previous day, while the Fried Oyster (5 pcs) Set Meal page carries the figures that had appeared for the Fried Horse Mackerel (2 pcs) Set Meal. Prices have not moved, at 930 yen and 1,030 yen (both tax included).

Nothing on either menu page, or in the official notices on the company’s website, indicates which listing is the correct one.

Prices Remain 930 Yen and 1,030 Yen

Nothing beyond the nutrition information has changed. The Fried Horse Mackerel (2 pcs) Set Meal is 930 yen and the Fried Oyster (5 pcs) Set Meal is 1,030 yen, both the same as when the listings first appeared.

Among the set meals, 930 yen puts the item level with the Japanese Authentic Fried Chicken(5 Pieces) w/Grated Radish. One step down are the 890-yen Japanese Authentic Fried Chicken(5 Pieces) and “Meaty” Chicken “Breast” Cutlet Set Meal; one step up is the 990-yen PorkLoinCutlet w/ Tomato sauce Set meal. The 1,030-yen mark is where the platter items sit — the Pork Loin Cutlet & Fried Horse Mackerel (1 pc) Set Meal and the Pork Loin Cutlet & Fried Oyster (2 pcs) Set Meal.

The side dishes section also lists Fried Horse Mackerel only (1 pc) at 350 yen and Fried Oyster only (2 pcs) at 400 yen. The piece counts differ from those in the set meals, so the prices are not directly comparable.

Both Items Have Launched on a September Wednesday in Past Years

Official notices announced the Fried Horse Mackerel and Fried Oyster launches on September 20 and September 27 in 2023, on September 25 in 2024, and on September 24 in 2025. Every one of those dates was a Wednesday, and so is September 16 this year. Each notice put the start time at 3 p.m.

In March 2025, the notice for the Fried Oyster +1 Piece SALE also announced the end of that season’s Fried Oyster run. These are items that come and go with the turn of the seasons, and this year they have returned at the same point in the calendar.
