MenuUpdated

This is a reference translation. The Japanese version is the authoritative original.

On Matsunoya’s official website, the nutrition information for the Kid’s Meal was rewritten on September 30. Energy rose 52kcal, from the 762kcal listed until now to 814kcal. The price stays at 500 yen, unchanged.

Four of the Five Fields Went Up

Field Before After Change
Energy 762kcal 814kcal +52kcal
Protein 17.5g 18.5g +1.0g
Fat 25.8g 29.3g +3.5g
Carbohydrates 116.8g 124.0g +7.2g
Salt Equivalent 1.7g 1.6g -0.1g

Energy, protein, fat and carbohydrates all went up — four fields — and only the salt equivalent came down, by 0.1g. The Kid’s Meal has no size variants; a single 500 yen version is the only one listed.

No Note on a Change to the Contents

Fat and carbohydrates rose together and protein gained 1.0g, which suggests the number of items on the plate or their portions were reworked. But the menu page on the official website as of September 30 carries no note explaining what changed or how. No official explanation has been given, including on why the price was left alone.

At 15:00 on the same September 30, the official website’s menu was substantially reshuffled: three set meals using the Back Fat Ginger Sauce (1090 yen each) were newly listed, and Skin-On French Fries (390 yen) joined the side menu. There is no note tying the Kid’s Meal change to any of these.

The Same-Priced Sibling Is Half of 814kcal

The Kid’s Pancake Plate sits alongside the Kid’s Meal in the same children’s slot, also at 500 yen. Its energy is 413kcal, and that figure did not change this time. At the same price, the listed energy now differs by nearly a factor of two.

The price positioning has not changed either. Matsunoya set meals run from 690 yen to 1390 yen and bowls from 690 yen to 1050 yen, while individual items and side dishes run from 60 yen to 290 yen. At 500 yen, the Kid’s Meal still occupies a price band of its own in between.

From October 6 It Is a Sumikkogurashi Target Item

The Kid’s Meal is one of the target menu items on the Matsunoya side of the Sumikkogurashi Gyu♪ to Gohoubi Campaign (a rewards campaign) announced on September 30. The period runs from 10:00 on October 6 to 9:59 on December 22, and qualifying orders come with a Reflector Keychain (6 designs). Distribution runs from October 6 to November 17, switching to Vol. 2 on November 17, with both while supplies last.

A word from our Matsunoya novice

814kcal on a plate meant for a child. Whether that is a lot or a little, no idea.
